Use Chalk To Assist Your Grip While Deadlifting

August 31st, 2007 by the writer

While the deadlift is an excellent lower back exercise, you’ll likely lose your grip on the bar before you’ve sufficiently worked your muscles. To combat this you’ll need to assist your grip by using weight training wrist straps or chalk. Chalk is the better option of the 2 because using wrist straps while deadlifting forces you to hold the weight no matter what and you could pull a muscle. Chalk is also the only grip assistant you’re allowed to use in powerlifting competitions.
