Forty Years Of The Allman Brothers Music

June 30th, 2010 by the writer

Despite the troubled economic times, the Allman Brothers band remain a hot property, particularly for their 20th Anniversary Tour in 1990. In the past, the concert dates during the summer of 2007 include venues in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York State, North Carolina, Virginia and Minnesota. Fans from the early days will mingle with younger people who have discovered their music. Older fans may have fond memories of classic gigs from the past such as the 1971 appearance at the famous Fillmore East. This was the place for bands to be seen in that era and a live album was recorded from the performance. These Allman Brothers tickets were like gold dust as the band was the last to play before the venue was closed.

Finding Good Library Production Music

May 18th, 2010 by the writer

When you decided to have a music on a your video project, there are three things to consider. Listen to the radio and select which song to license is the first thing to do. The disadvantage of this is when you contact big recording companies, you paid them as if you’re paying a down payment on a house and pay royalties when the video is posted in a new site. Secondly, you pay for studio musicians that you hire but better if you have a knowledge about studio production to be able to lead them in creating the song that you’re looking for. Lastly, you have to spend on library production music and make the song free and clear to be able to use it anytime.
For a better understanding, read on library production music.

Tips on cleaning vinyl records

February 15th, 2010 by the writer

Cleaning vinyl records could appear like an easy task but it is important that you select the right product for the job.

I tried to use rubbing alcohol for the project but this approach left my discs pretty dry and I was scared that they might become brittle over a period of time.

Rubbing alcohol has a drying effect on many surfaces and it might not be the very best choice for cleaning vinyl records. Rather than going this route I determined to try something additional delicate.

Music Download Sites

February 1st, 2010 by the writer

Music download sites offer vast collections of songs for a relatively small price. These sites are offspring to Napster and other free music download sites. Although you can’t expect to get free songs you can get great music for next to nothing by using one of these popular websites. Of course, Napster tops the list of music download sites. This organization has been in operation for awhile and some complain that this porthole is a little lagging compared to other music download sites out there. However, there are those of us who are very happy with the services provided by Napster. One of those services is free tracks. Okay, I know that I just said that you can’t get free songs but what I really meant was that you can’t keep the free songs.

The revolution of music recording software

January 22nd, 2010 by the writer

With the introduction of cheap computing, most music recording is now done digitally. Not only that, but most recording is done in the homes of the musicians recording the music in the first place. Music recording software has made this possible.

If you are a serious musician, or perhaps maybe only a hobby instrumentalist, you probably have a home studio setup of some kind. With the prices of computers plummeting the last decade, it really doesn’t take much to afford quality recordings in your own home. Now you can even get free music recording software, which means you only need a computer and a digital converter to be able to record music.

The fact that home recordings are so affordable means that just about anyone can publish there music on the Internet. We all know about illegal downloading of music. However, there is another side of these music distribution technologies, and that is the distribution of unsigned artists that use the medium to market their music.

In the old days we had to use cassette players to record our music, and that was a fact you could hear the second you played your self-recorded tape. It sounded awful, and to be able to record something that sounded professional you would have to pay thousands of dollars for studio time. Not so anymore. And now that the old-timers have stopped complaining about how much better music recorded the analog way sounds compared to digital recordings, there is nothing to stop the young guard of musicians sitting in their basements recording the next hit album.

Online Guitar Lessons

January 19th, 2010 by the writer

Online guitar lessons are a great way to learn guitar. Cheaper and more convenient than private studio lessons, the technology is now at a point where the difference in quality is nonexistent and actually has many advantages.

Many guitar instructors are limited to a certain style. With the better online courses the styles and musical genres are practically unlimited. There is no boredom factor involved either. Many students quit guitar lessons if their teacher doesn’t know the songs, artists or type of music they like. The top courses cover all the bases. If you don’t like certain musical styles, don’t play them and go on to something else more interesting.

“General” Larry Platt’s “Pants on the Ground”

January 15th, 2010 by the writer

I feel very bad for all the young and talented American Idol Season 9 contestants who have gone through the trouble of following all the rules to finally make it to Hollywood. At a time when all the spotlights should be focusing on them, all the publicity and attention seems to have been stolen away by someone who does not follow the same rules.

I am sure that you have guessed by now that I’m talking about “General” Larry Platt and his “Pants on the Ground” rap song and its bizarre lyrics. Yes, this “General” may not even be a real general and he certainly does not quality to audition for the American Idol reality show because he is 62 years old. But he did audition in Atlanta, GA and he and his song became instant hits.

Now, the Internet is flooded with videos and articles about “General” Larry Platt and “Pants on the Ground.” Sorry, guys. Such is life in the entertainment business!

Audio Recording Software

January 4th, 2010 by the writer

A lot of people rip on technology, thinking that it really does a whole lot to alienate us from each other. In some ways this is true. Communities are much less tightly knit, at least by location, than they used to be back in the day, but in some ways, technology has actually given us new ways to communicate with each other. This is nowhere more true than in the area of audio recording software. You see, it used to be that a musician would have to buy studio time to record and distribute his music. Once he actually got it put on record, there would be no way to get other people to hear it unless he could get signed to a major label. Technology has really done a whole lot to change all that.

Music And Musicians In The 50s

January 3rd, 2010 by the writer

The 1950s, it seems like such a long time to the 80s and the 90s child but not so to old timers. One of the most memorable things about the 50s was the Beat Culture. In the 50s, hot-rodders and Beats provided inspiration, even in music. The 1950s music scene reverberated to the beat with names like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Pat Boone, and Patti Page among other legends. This was the time of the Franks, with such names as Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine and Frank Loesser coming clearly to mind. 1950s music is well remembered for a good number of hit songs with such titles as ‘Sh-Boom’, ‘Earth Angel’, ‘Cry Me A River’, ‘Mr. Lee’ and ‘Rainbow’ coming in mind. Dancehall songs by Fats Domino, The Diamonds and Ray Charles are also well remembered.

Everyone can learn how to sing

December 28th, 2009 by the writer

Reading the title above you might be thinking no, not me, and that you would never be able to sing a clear tone in your life. However, I assure you that with the correct practice, over time, anyone and everyone can learn how to sing.

First things first, you have to want to sing and you should probably like to sing. If you don’t like to sing because you sound terrible, that is ok as long as you are willing to learn. Second, remember that while I recommend that you use every chance you have to sing, like in the shower, in the car, while you clean the house, this should not substitute your daily practice.

Learning a new skill like singing requires practice, like all other skills you want to learn. No one is born with a voice like Pavarotti, so if you want to sound like him you need to practice like him.
