Solar Power Can Do What?

May 22nd, 2009 by the writer

Instead of letting these stats warp your brain, try to imagine the solar power we could potentially harness. It may still warp your brain, but in a good way.

Okay, here we go:

* The sun’s nuclear reaction consumes 4.2 million tons of mass per second (and it will still last another 6 billion years).

* Only two billionths of the sun’s total energy output is intercepted by the Earth.

And More…

Which solar panels are for you?

May 9th, 2009 by the writer

Why would anyone buy less efficient solar panels? Well, the main reason is that they’re cheaper. So if you look at it from the “how much electricity do I get for my money” point of view, thin-film technology is competitive with traditional solar panels.

Also, thin-film technology is actually more efficient than traditional solar panels in cloudy conditions and on hot days. Depending on your climate, this could be a big plus.

Treat Yourself With Solar Power

May 5th, 2009 by the writer

An increasing number of persons are starting to consider the advantages of solar power as an electricity source for their residence. An immense amount of unused energy is delivered to the earth every day. The use of this bonus doesn’t involve the removal of any waste or left over radioactive material. There is no injection of “greenhouse gases” into our atmosphere. And the good news is that it’s free.

If your need is electricity then there will be an initial cost to install a solar array. The amount of power you can achieve will depend on the square feet of solar cells, the greater the square feet, the greater the electricity developed. You can usually count on generating one kilowatt (kW) of electricity for every 100 square feet of solar cells. Consider adding solar energy alternatives if your energy bill is higher than $150 a month. Make sure that your locality gets sufficient sunlight that is unobstructed by high trees or nearby mountains. Check out make a solar array for more help with setting up your solar assist project.

The Cost of Solar Power

May 4th, 2009 by the writer

Of course there are many variables with solar power cost. If you go with a grid-tie system (connected to the electrical grid) you can keep costs down by going without batteries. This means you can sell power to the utility company and get back free power at night.

What You Should Know About Home Solar Power

May 4th, 2009 by the writer

The amazing thing about home solar power is that it’s just like plugging into a giant, free, non-polluting power plant that is going to be producing power whether we use it or not. When you look at it that way it’s natural to start thinking about how this free power can be put to work.

Solar Batteries and Your Solar System

May 4th, 2009 by the writer

Solar batteries are often referred to as the “heart of your solar power system”. After consulting some medical textbooks I discovered that the heart is actually a very important part of the human body.

Coincidence?

Actually, no. It turns out that if you’re going off-grid or grid-tied with backup, batteries are going to indeed be one of the fundamental pieces of your solar power puzzle.

Solar Power Inverter Info

May 4th, 2009 by the writer

Why do you need a solar power inverter?

Well let’s do a quick review:

* solar panels take sunlight and create direct current (DC) electricity
* if you have a battery bank this DC current is stored in your deep cycle batteries (only DC current can be stored in batteries)
* when you need to use some power to play a CD or turn on a light you need alternating current (AC), not the DC current stored in your battery bank.

How do you get that AC power you need?

That’s right! The DC current runs from your battery to an inverter that converts it to the AC power your gadgets are thirsty for.

And if you want to know something about metal too, I suggest you read the article “Allow Steels and its Many Uses.” It will give you a straightforward explanation and a great read.

Are Solar Panels a Good Idea?

April 27th, 2009 by the writer

Because the initial investment in Solar Power Systems can be expensive, it is feasible to think about the ways in which the costs can be reduced. If a person is technically oriented or very good at home improvement, it is possible that they might consider building their own solar system. The amount of electricity or heat that can be generated is directly influenced by the wattage of the solar panels, as well as by the intensity of the sun light that touches their surface. First, of course, it would be important to learn how solar panels work, what materials are required, the cost of the raw materials and the availability of them, and finally the difficulty involved in assembling and installing them. In the long run, will your effort be rewarded with a solar system that will serve you for a reasonable period of time?

What are Solar Panels?

March 23rd, 2009 by the writer

Solar panels are flat collections of solar cells that are used to catch the Sun’s energy and to create electricity and heat. Because the sun’s energy is very diffuse as it shines down it takes a collection of solar cells to generate enough energy to make electricity or heat. Solar panels come in different sizes and shapes so that they can be used on a variety of different types of buildings but no matter what shape or size they are the basic design of a solar panel is the same.

How do solar cells work?

Solar cells are wafers made of a semi-conductive material, usually silicon, combined with rarer elements such as phosphorus and boron. The silicon is what grabs the energy from the sun and traps it to be used for electricity while the phosphorus and the boron help excite the molecules and intensify the energy that is coming into the cell. When the sun’s rays hit the silicon and are channeled through the cell the molecules excite and travel through an attached electrical circuit, creating electricity.

Talented And Gifted School

February 17th, 2009 by the writer

Going to a talented and gifted school was quite a privilege, but it also involved quite a few more responsibilities than other kids had. When I was growing up, most talented and gifted schools cost an arm and a leg. My parents didn’t have a lot of money, so we were lucky we were able to find a gifted charter school in the area. It was actually not quite in our immediate area. It was a good half hour drive each way to school – not a problem for me, but quite an inconvenience for my parents who both worked 50 hours a week or more. Nonetheless, they wanted the best for me, so they made the commitment to drive me there. There was no bus that went there, so they had to carpool every morning. That meant that I would have to get there an hour before school and stay an hour late. Read on at Talented And Gifted School

Production of Cast Iron

December 2nd, 2008 by the writer

By remelting pig iron, cast iron is produced. Sometimes quantities of scrap steel and scrap iron are also used in this process. Various steps also have to be taken if undesirable contaminants such as sulfur and phosphorus are to be removed. Depending on the specific application, silicon and carbon content are reduced to the levels required. This may vary from 2% to 3.5% (carbon) and 1% to 3% (silicon). It is important to remember that other elements are also added before the final form is produced, which is done by casting.

How To Utilize Renewable Energy Sources

Earth4Energy – Benefits and Solutions
By Darrel Case

With all the advancement in science and technology, it’s a shame that we have not turned more to the other renewable resources of earth for energy. There’s no denying that the world is most accustomed to oil, coal and gas as its power source. They are not so without good reasons. To be fair, these energy means have served us well over history but we are in a different situation and our planet is in another condition from yesteryear.

Renewable Energy Sources

Alongside the comforts and conveniences of modernization are the negative side-effects which form part of the bargain. The cliché these days is how energy waste is harming the eco-balance of the earth. Global warming, freak weather pattern and natural disasters, environmental pollution, wild-life and forestry threats and hazards spontaneously spring to mind at the slightest mention of energy bi-products. The fact is it doesn’t have to be like that.

It isn’t Molecular Science or Nuclear Physics. Everybody knows that conservation is the obvious way of cutting down on fuel consumption. The resultant drop in demand will of course ultimately lead to reduction in both cost and pollution. Besides that, there need to be other measures to cope with the ever-increasing appetite for fuel in this industrialized age. There need to alternative sources of energy. Not just that, they have to be green too!

The price we pay for energy is not all that’s shown on the bill from the power company. Behind the charges on the bill, oil, gas and coal reserves are depleting quickly while their wastes continue to eat away at our planet. So it is obvious that the issue of energy facing most of us is basically two-pronged: cost and environmental factors. It is reasonable to mention here that each one of us is just as liable to one as the other and is obliged to take our individual measure of responsibility.

The obvious answer here is renewable energy. There are a variety of ways to tap the earth for energy. The ones with the greatest reach are wind and solar power generation. They can be handily decentralized into many small-scale grids or even individual stand-alone set-ups whereupon private homes would be able to join in on the energy crusade. Yes, any home can put up its very own wind and solar power generators through DIY and it’s a lot easier than most people think.

DIY guides for home wind and solar power generators are found in abundance on the internet. Competition is fierce and scams are rampant. But by following a few simple pointers, one should be able to identify the bona-fide ones from the pretenders. Any kit worth its salt should feature money-back guarantee, technical support and free lifetime updates. Short of that, pass.

If you are looking to Earth For Energy, our recommendation is outright. Let us share our views and information with you at Renewable Energy Sources.
