Easter Pastimes for Children

February 21st, 2010 by the writer

One of the years favorite activities for children is the Easter Egg hunt. It doesn’t matter if there’s prizes involved, although children always love prizes, the main thrill is the searching, checking all the old hiding places and looking for the new ones.

Another fun activity has always been coloring eggs. And of course, with all the newer ways there are to decorate or dye eggs, there’s lots of room to be creative. Certain cultures have rich traditions of decorating eggs with paint, wax or other items. Some even carve the shells! But even basic dyed eggs will bring happiness sitting on the table (or hidden by a tree).

Easter Basket making is another fun pastime. Take some different colored cardboard, red, pink, blue, yellow, etc. and cut it into long strips. Then using sticky tape or safety glue, instruct the kids to weave the it together to create a simple Easter basket shape.
