The big time theatre musical that has to be discussed is Phantom, one of the most terrific theatre productions to ever be written. This awesome show is the longest running theatre musical in entertainment history and the biggest earning of all time. The musical show was created for the theatre stage by Andrew Lloyd Webber and describes the story of a disfigured chap who falls in love with a chorus singer from the opera house. The outstanding songs of the theatre show are now legendary and the mask worn by the Phantom of the Opera is so unmistakable that it’s noticed in various fancy dress parties around the globe.
Next up is the incredible musical show known as Cats. Again another acclaimed theatre show and one that ran virtually 20 years until its last show in late 2000. The theatre show won both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony award for best theatre show and was shown in both London’s glittering West End and Broadway New York. The musical production was so successful that it was translated into 18 separate languages and actually shown across the globe. Cats the musical show was a real groundbreaker.
Now it is time for the most renowned play with a French show title of all time, Les Miserable aka Les Mis or translated into English as The Miserables. The theatre musical has been captivating audiences in London’s West End for beyond 16 years now and is the 2nd longest running theatre production in London’s entertainment history. One of the most recognized songs from the theatre musical is I Dreamed a Dream, and it was also sung by Britains Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle. The theatre musical was nominated for twelve Tony awards and won eight of them, including finest actor.
