Take some time to explore the internet. The internet is full of independent artists, photographers and creators who are trying to sell their work. Etsy is a just one of the popular websites through which unique and affordable décor can be found. If you’re interested in browsing photography for free, you can look through Flickr, a site where photographers post their portfolios for viewers. Many artists build personal sites that they use as marketplaces for what they create. Deals abound on the internet-shopping is no longer limited to Amazon and Ebay (though there are great bargains there as well!)

Buy new rugs to replace your existing ones. Even if you are forced to live in a home with wall to wall carpet, you can put down room sized decorative rugs to change the feel of the room. You can find room sized rugs in most larger decorating stores. Accent rugs make excellent addition to rooms with hardwood floors. Accent rugs do not cost a lot to replace or switch around. For those who know how to crochet or knit, they can save even more money by making their own rugs to use as decorations.

Most people forget that decorating can be done cheaply because they get caught up in the cost of brand new things. Get inspiration from the decorating schemes of your friends. When you see a decorating scheme you like ask yourself “how can I recreate this for less money?” You’ll soon find that home decorating does not have to cost a lot of money.
